An alarm clock for the people who hit snooze fifty times before getting up. The clock senses that it is night time and starts moving around the room randomly. If it hits an obstacle it just changes direction. The alarm itself is loud enough to wake up the dead no matter where in the room it is.
007 alarm clock
http://www.halfbake...007_20alarm_20clock Another half-baked "make *sure* you're awake" alarm clock. [egnor, Jun 21 2000, last modified Oct 04 2004]
Facial Stabbing Alarm Clock
http://www.superkay...ions-alarmclock.htm This is part of the superkaylo site by Charlie Brooker. I think this clock basically does what is needed... [MrTheRich, Jun 21 2000, last modified Oct 04 2004]

I made an alarm clock at uni that would run away when you reached out for it. The second time you reached out it would let you turn it off but by this time yu were out of sleepy land and accross the other side of the room.

i think an alarm clock that slowly pushes everything else off my desk would get me out of bed faster. |
Similar to the golf-ball alarm clock, I've heard of a football-shaped clock... throw it across the room to turn it off, but when it goes off 10 minutes later, you've got to go find it. |

See the link to the facial stabbing alarm clock for the ultimate get out of bed alarm clock. :) |

I add my vote - for this is a fine idea. |
Could it potentially tie up with Onion on a Spring? |
wouldnt a simpler solution simply be to have a loud alarm clock permanently situated on the other side of the room? |
why would a cat need an alarm clock ? |

I think this is a very good idea. For the person who
suggested a loud permanent alarm clock on the other side
of the room -- I already know better. I sleep with an
alarm clock by my head and across the room, and every
time both of them go off, I inevitably get up, shut them
off, and get back in bed. An alarm that moves would not
only annoy me into getting up, but it would require me
out of bed for more than the time it might take me to
walk across the room and shut my permanently affixed
alarm clock off. Wonderful idea...I'm waiting for somebody
to patent and make it :) |

I croissant this. I do like the golf ball one Steve DeGroof mentions even more, though. The clock on the other side of the room doesn't work, at least for me. I am quite able to get up, turn it off, and return to bed without really ever waking up. I am one of those people who hits the snooze 10 times or more every day, no matter how much sleep I get. |

That sounds great. It's rather amusing imagining a little clock that sputters around the room everytime you hit the snooze button, bumping mindlessly into your dog and shoe rack. Perhaps it should have some heat-sensor to move as far away from you as possible to force you to get up. |
Great idea, but I would hope it's pretty durable for two reasons: It would roll off my nightstand every night, and fall, and when I got up in the morning, I'd be so cranky at it I would step on it instead of actually turning it off. |
Unless of course it comes with its own stand, and that's where the wheels are. |
this is great i'm conducting a project on this sort of thing for uni, problem is if it moves it could wind up in the next room tangled in your sisters nickers and she wont be to pleased when she's woken up early! |
