Wouldn't it be nice to have abstract money in a situation like: some artist wants to sell you some piece of art that everyone else than the artist and a few other lunatics can see is just a piece of horsesh**. Then you can pay for the abstract art with your abstract money, and we could all be happy.

Would that include coins with holes in them? |

I think this is meant to be a joke/rant against abstract art and its high prices. I'm guessing ha-ha-x, but not mfd'ing 'cause their is an idea there. |

I'm giving it an abstract croissant. Or possibly a doughnut. |
|
|
Before I'll accept your assertion that it's a piece of horseshoe, I'll challenge you to tell me why the artist and a few other lunatics think it's not. If you can persuade me you've bothered to educate yourself about the supposed merit of the artwork, I'll accept your evaluation of it. Until then, your evaluation sounds suspiciously like a mindless rejection of something you don't understand. |

But I do like the idea of paying for abstract art with abstract money. I think it might even appeal to some abstract artists (maybe not the hungry ones, so much). |

Wouldn't it be ironic if we were! |

Rust, that's if you get it wet as when you steam iron. |

Based on this premise, could one pay for algebra or field theory work using Imaginary money, based on the square root of minus one ? |

This thread reminds me somewhat of a novel I read about an Italian Officer during World War II who discovers an valuable abstract painting on a Greek island. I think it was called "Captain Corelli's Mondrian". |

Can I tithe with an IOU then? |

bliss, this is only an exhibition, not a competition. No wagering please. (I'd only compete if I had a prayer of winning.) |
|
|
yeah, and you'd also be able to buy abstract/demented everything with the money. like demented fruits, demented pets and such. |

//a prayer of winning// "Please, Lord, let me win." |

Question: if you forget to make an abstract payment, does the abstract collection agency come after you, or are they just too abstract to care? |
|
|
Our money is already abstract. Since the U.S. went off the gold standard (I assume the U.K. has done likewise) our money is only a representation of the faith that others will accept it. That and the requirement that we pay our taxes in it, even if we use barter for all our transactions. Trust and coercion are the basis of our currencies' value. |
