Award top 10 ideas a year with patents and refer winners to potential business angels and venture capitalists.

A new HB sister-site could then be created called the 'Real Bakery' to follow the progress of these ideas out in the real-world.

Who's paying for the patents? How will these patents stand up - bearing in mind that publishing on the web means the in the public domain?

Isn't that there a Duke of Edinburgh or Prince of Wales award for just that? I'm sure I remember something seeing something about it on Tomorrow's World some time ago.

Bring back The Great Egg Race and let them build everything on this site.

I belive the some of the sites in the links section provide a very similar service.

/refer winners to potential business angels and venture capitalists./

I worry that my ideas would sweep all 10 awards each year, and because of my extreme sloth I would fritter away the skills and resources of the business angels. Mostly I think I would send them to pick up tacos, or give me foot rubs.

There would need to be some sort of affirmative action for ideas built in to this, to be fair to all those people in the HB who desperately want to develop the ideas that they have given away by posting here.

My god. What have I done?

I hereby bequeath all of my desperateness to develop a real world Hullaballoon to [bungston] who seems better suited to the onus.

Lift my load before midnight tonight and I'll throw in the dev rights to Cream Cheese Rings as well.

Butt Flicking Clay I'm keeping, though, regardless of all the rich offers.

       Beware of the 1-year bar:

35 U.S.C. 102 Conditions for patentability; novelty and loss of right to patent. A person shall be entitled to a patent unless -- ... (b) the invention was patented or described in a printed publication in this or a foreign country or in public use or on sale in this country, more than one year prior to the date of the application for patent in the United States, or...

For those of you outside the US (perhaps the majority here) there is no 1 year lattitude. There is none, generally.
bristolz, Nov 16 2005

I despair that [bristolz] seems to already know about my Onus Suit. I was keeping that scheme secret from everyone but my business angel in hopes of parlaying it into obscene wealth.
bungston, Nov 16 2005

[bungston] I'll go halfway, and parlay it into an obscenity.
moomintroll, Nov 16 2005

you should know us better by now, shinobi.

How about a "feasability rating" and then some promotion amongst angel investor networks and/or collaborative efforts of those on the site.

Patents are not necessary, just profit. So forget isolating it and just go fo rthe gusto. make it!
