If a redacted document included a mixture of blacked- out and whited- out words and characters, then there would be fewer clues to the original text based on word length.
If we're allowed image- processing software, we can also randomly alter the lengths of redacted sequences so that, for example,
there's no clue as to the total length of someone's name (as well as no clue, because of the striping, as to the relative length of given name and surname).
