Just like today's reenactment societies

A whole group of people chanting "Two Half Grande Lattes!"... Someone earnestly explaining to a student the painstakingly reconstructed artefacts in a circa Yr 2000 cubicle... A group of Il Fornaio waiter reenactors... A man playing the part of an Internet billionaire, wearing a white shirt, calf-length trousers and deck shoes... A group of people pretending to be day traders, saying "It'll hit the 110 support level and bounce back - classic head-and-shoulders".

Annotation:

I thought the Internet stock market bubble *was* a re-enactment of the Dutch tulip craze.
snarfyguy, Aug 21 2001

At least people ended up with some nice tulips at the end of the tulip craze.

It was very late at night when I posted this idea - ...at least I didn't post "20th century Civil War reenactment societies Reenactment Society".
hippo, Aug 21 2001

You're probably right - maybe "The Internet Stock Market Bubble: The Musical" would have been more realistic (if a rather ghastly thought)...
hippo, Aug 21 2001

       You mean "won't I?".
hippo, Aug 24 2001

Do you have a girlfriend in the SCA too?
elendilmir, Aug 25 2001

<recap>"Do you have a girlfriend in the SCA too? ... Didn't I? ... I do ... Aahhh, excellent!", reminds me of Future Echoes (episode of red dwarf).

Perhaps I missed something in first year biology. Did that petri dish just say something profound?

That was a deleted [UnaBubba] annotation (see link)

People go on about the difficulty of verb tenses in time travel, but that's small beer compared to the difficulty of conversations in which people go back in time and edit or delete things they've already said and to which people have already responded. When widespread time-travel causes the space-time continuum to unravel like a too-much-laundered shirt, the halfbakers, from long practice, will be have the mental toughness to keep their sanity.

"will be have"? - you mean "would have been having"
hippo, Aug 06 2010

HA! I will would have soon see! I'm going to wait five years or so then come back and delete this anno...
