This would be a wireless pen which can write, store what you write into the pen's memory or storage device, and then can upload the data into a computer via wireless connection. This way you can have a hard copy of your notes as well as a soft copy of your notes stored and saved into a word processing application when data from the pen is uploaded.

Kinda neat huh :-).

Kind'a baked, too: Logitech's "io" Personal Digital Pen http://www.techtv.c...195,3408030,00.html
26 Dec 02 | Pretty much as described and with 40 pages of memory but not with wifi connectivity. [bristolz, Oct 04 2004]

Orb-it http://www.halfbakery.com/idea/Orb-it
Miniaturize this -- make it into a pen -- use the gyros, etc, as sensor inputs. [Amos Kito, Oct 04 2004]

Annotation:

       when it comes to computing, you need to make things very easy for the users. Logitech's pen would be much better if it had the wireless option.

       that pen is pretty cool...did it ever get out to the public? i tried doing a search on the keyword "compapen" but did not find anything. If it was being made, I would probably buy one.

       //Storage device// - paper, ordinary paper. Baked.

       [blaise], that pen isn't hi-tech enough. It needs accelerometers, tilt & pressure sensors, and tiny gyroscopes, to detect exact movements. It's like a little hand-held Segway with an ink cartridge. Or like an Orb-it [link].
Have it send a signal in real-time to a PC or PDA, via bluetooth, Wi-Fi, or IR, and you've got one fine writing instrument!

       Well, it was a nice baked thought.

       Twice baked thought, even, as good ideas often are, alas.

       All pens are wireless already.
