This one's not for me..except after a few ales maybe..for those that enjoy winking at people but find it too bright to take off their sunnies on a bright day. To give a good wink..you could have a shutter eye(comes down on the outside of the lenses) operated by a little air bag held in the hand that
when squeezed air goes through small tubing to the sunnies (same as those little jumping spiders you used to get, when you squeezed the bag it would jump) anyway the eye quickly winks giving the illusion desired, put this together with a cheeky smile may get you the response your looking for or have them knocked cleanly off your face.

Or have the mechanism attached to your eyelid so that activation occurs by way of an actual wink. |

Ah, skinflapping sunglasses. And maybe for funerals an option for shedding tears. |

Make the lenses of the glasses from monochrome LCD screens. Mount a reflective IR diode/photodarlington pair in the corner of each eyepiece, aimed at the cornea. When the eyelid occludes the eye, the IR reflectance path is broken and the LCD shutter goes transparent. So you can be seen winking. Could run of a small lithium battery - the electronics could be integrated into the sidepieces. Cost about USD $500 apiece. |

If I wink each time the lens goes goes transparent, how do I ever know if it's working? |

Ask a friend ..... if you have one ..... |

Well, I winked at a friend, but then he walked away, quickly. |

or perhaps ones which looked like a winky. |

You would end up looking like Groucho Marx winking |
