Hear the Martian wind.

They released a recording of Martian wind sort of. It's a raised octave recording of vibrations of the solar panels. (See link)

I would love the idea of logging into the NASA web page where you could listen to Martian "music" such as flutes, bells or chimes being activated by the Martian wind.

Now I understand the density of the atmosphere there is a fraction of what it is on Earth but with a little work we could rig something that would do the job.

Mars singing to us.

This would be possible, but if you want the sound of a cold, lifeless wind blowing through an empty, desolate landscape, why not just set up a microphone in Milton Keynes ?

Who would want to steal Milton Keynes ? Even the Ferengi would want substantial payment to take it away.

Better yet would be a mechanical speaking machine, placed onto the back of one of one of those Strandbeast walking machines. And keep it a secret as to how it got there.

Looked up Milton Keynes. Looks like you guys are suffering from same architectural disease we are over here, at least in the one development pictured. (see link) This new random parts look. No rhyme or reason, no congruity, no theme, just a bunch of un-related architectural elements that looked like they were put in a box, shaken up and thrown against the wall. "OK boys, let's build this!".

We're also suffering from the "gaily painted, tastefully offset storage containers" look.

I know what they're trying to do, they're trying to move mid century minimalist architecture into the next step, except taking minimalist and making it really busy, complicated and un-pleasing to the eye sort of looses the idea of minimalist.

And I understandthere are no rules in art, that's what makes it great. If something works while breaking the rules, that's awesome. This doesn't.

// suffering from same architectural disease //

Would that be "Buildings designed by and for architects to show to other architects how clever and innovative they are, rather than by the people who have to live and work in the environment" Syndrome ?

What percentage of architects actually live (or would consider living) in their own constructions ?

Does anybody know what this crapitectural style is called? I look up "contemporary architecture" and get a bunch of mid century modern stuff, a style that started in the 1950s.

It's like they're so ashamed of it they didn't even bother to give it a name.
