Where I currently exist, there's not a lot of physical security on the trains. Like there's metal bulkhead behind the driver, but it has glass windows in the bulkhead, so you can see what's going on.
Likewise at the back of the train, you can see out the back of the train.
Whilst riding on the
train with external cameras streaming to wifi handhelds, it would be kind of cool to watch what's going on outside, instead of just looking at the back of the head of the person in front of me for 20 minutes, come rush hour.
I'd suggest front and back cams, but also left and right side as well. Cams are cheap, so I can't see why this shouldn't work.

Well, all the carriages are pretty interconnected, otherwise they wouldn't be able to show the "the next station is Takodanobaba...."so call it two routers for each carriage |

Forwards could be an issue. American Airlines 191 had a
camera in the nose wheel landing gear. As such, a
percentage of passengers were watching on TV as they
plunged to Earth. This was deemed as increased suffering
and included in the calculations for financial
compensation. This is why there are no cameras on
commercial planes anymore. It's also a motivation for the
crew to stay silent regarding the complete hydraulic failure
they just noticed. |
