Formed in the shape of a stylized blue whale, of ceramic with a copper bottom and internal tank, the kettle features a blowhole whistle (an internal flap closes off the "baleen" particle filter while in the upright position), and the tail curves up and around to form the handle; fashionable enough to
serve, not only as kettle, but as teapot.
Giant-squid cozy sold separately.

When are you tea drinkers going to get an instant hot water
dispenser? It's 2012! |
I was just wondering what is in their tea, that they keep coming up with all these bizarre kettle entries. Whatever they're using, it must be some strong stuff. Are the walls turning into LCD displays yet? |
2 fries, nice catch. I mean the whale! |
I saw that one but decided a poorly applied decal to a regular kettle doesn't count. [21] you working for Google these days ? neither link worked for some reason and defaulted to G homepage. |
Sadly having no artistic talent of mine own, I can't show the concept and none of the results of simple Google searches came close... think a slightly Disneyfied stubby blue whale which tail arches up and over so the shape (including air space) is about halfway between a football and a basketball. Tail is the handle and the baleen plates the calcium filter. |
[Psalm_], the options other than Camellia sinensis in this house are rather numerous. Some of them are psychoactive but not often interestingly so. |
just Firefox: both ended up at a blank Google search page. |
<shrug> haven't had problems before that I know of: the teapot is neat; I'd pictured something like that but more compact lengthwise (and the tail curving up and over of course). |
[Psalm], you must understand that while the Great and
Omnipotent Lord of Airborne Kitchen Appliances is not a
Brit (although he's Canadian, which is sort of a hybrid),
many 'Bakers are subjects of the British Empire and
therefore are absolutely apeshit about tea. Like most
things Halfbakery, this condition is infectious. |
[skin] the pectoral fins'd fit right into that; perhaps an oil lamp could be added underneath. |
[Ao] more batshit than apeshit: quite a collection of teas, only two of which ever get used (Liptons Yellow Label and Typhoos), the rest are there to keep happy people who give me odd teas because they think I collect them... because people keep giving me odd teas. |
// quite a collection of teas // |
You should see that amassed by The Good Fairy Jenny; it's
gotta be pushing sixty varieties by now, every one if which
she drinks. A tea for every occasion, mood, and neurosis,
or at least that's the goal. Her latest trend is Yerba Maté,
which isn't actually tea, but is definitely a fun ride. |

21 Quest, the links didn't work for me either, but
now they do. Thanks. |

How do you stop Japanese coming along and sticking a harpoon in your kettle for "Scientific Research" ? |
//quite a collection of teas// |
Not likely; she doesn't always drink, but when she does, she
drinks RUM. |
[Alt], we were thingking of something in the 20 - 40kT range (being proven technology in that area), but napalm would be a good call. |
Oh, I'm sorry, I was just welcoming you back. Yes, for
warding off confused Japanese whalers, a thermonuclear
device
wouldn't be a bad option. Preferably something in a cobalt
jacket, single-breasted, four buttons, narrow lapels,
delivered promptly by airdrop from 20,000 feet. |

Whoa there, the war was over years ago. Disarm man. >.> |
You're new round here, aren't you ... ? |
You'll have to excuse him, I don't think anyone's told
him about the, er... rivalry. |
[Psalm], the bomb isn't actually aimed at the Japanese,
they're just a convenient excuse. It's actually dropping on
a parsnip field just to the northeast of Steeple Morden. |
Rivalry? Nope, haven't heard of it. |
I also don't know why bad votes are fishbones, why quotes from previous annotaters are marked with a // instead of a " or why links are posted in a separate link section and not allowed in annotations. We need an add-on to the faq for newbies because I also haven't found the appropriate area to ask these questions. |

// I also haven't found the appropriate area to ask these
questions. // |
The // is used indicate that you are quoting another anno;
" " quotation marks mean you're quoting an outside
reference (though they aren't always used). |
Links are in a seperate column for simplicity. If you wish to
refer to a link you've posted, just type <link>. |
As for the fishbones... Well, that goes back to the thing
with the ducks. |
The rivalry is a polite term for the ongoing war between
[8th of 7] and [The Alterother]. We're arch-enemies, you
see. That bit's not important to the Halfbakery, but it
helps if you know that you can largely ignore our annos
when we've started squabbling. Couple of school-children,
we are. |
You see? That's the proper way to directly site an outside
reference. Thanks to my esteemed colleague, who is in no
way a Montgomery-apologist Jaffa Cake-inhaling lime-
sucking imperious Brit barsterd. |
FlyingToaster - LIPTON? You drink Lipton? Feh! That is to tea as McDonald's is to hamburgers. To wit: A travesty, a sham, a mockery... a traveshamery. |
What is the thing with the ducks? I've been curious about fishbones as negative votes since I started reading these nutty ideas two or three years ago. The buns I can understand, the bones are beyond me. |

... but at least never slapped a soldier in a hospital, or had to be rescued by PT boat when he lost the Phillipines, or nearly drowned himself on a North African beach ..... |
[Psalm_97] Don't believe [Alterother]'s answers;
Nancy Mitford is more reliable on that subject. |
Now I'm more lost than before. |
And we haven't even gotten to the custard. Try to keep up,
will you? |
Yes yes, I saw the speed bumps. A very good idea, that. The only thing remaining unsolved is the fishbones. |
this baby needs more blueetoth (and less cow bell) |
//LIPTON// quite strong for a supermarket-variety tea; I prefer Irish Breakfast but it's difficult to find sometimes. |
//harpoon// perhaps the filling-lid handle; it'd have to be metal or wood of course since ceramic is too brittle for the necessary (lack of) width. The whole kettle could be copper/aluminium excepting that the tail (aka kettle-handle) needs to be insulated. |
//Now I'm more lost than before.// Yes, good:
you're
catching on. |
////harpoon// perhaps the filling-lid handl// ... and
there should be a matching sugar caddy in the shape
of
a longboat, with Queequeg standing in the bow. |
