As well as removing beach sand from unwelcoming crevasses in the tent, and pumping/filtering local water sources, the vac also adds forced-air to a camp/bonfire, can remove smoke from an enclosed area, and is ready to store or extinguish leftover embers/coals.
It's built mostly like a regular shop-vac,
with stainless steel in heat-sensitive places. The removable bin/tank is double-walled, acting as a Thermos/Dewar to keep ingested embers toasty for the next day. Variable fan/pump speed allows various uses.

This is a great idea although, oddly, it still sucks. As for
the power source, you've got fire and water, so steam
power seems pretty obvious. |

crank. Crank it up to vacuum, suck, crank some
more. |
