Strap into the harness, calibrate the counterbalance--and it's like jumping on the moon.

The harness is attached to a cable, which threads through a pulley on a pole way over your head. The cable is attached to a counterweight you can set to make yourself as light as a mosquito on Mercury. So when you jump, you soar.

The Virtual Trampoline is educational, too-- but who cares? It's fun.

(And thank you folks for the science lesson. My junebug has flown Jupiter.)

Don't they have these already to simulate moonwalks and deep sea diving?

Btw, a junebug on Jupiter would probably weigh more than you do on Earth...
DrCurry, Apr 10 2006

Not really [DrCurry]. The gravity of Jupiter is about 2.5 that of Earth (it is mostly gases in there) even if its mass is 317.9 that of Earth. An adult June Bug would not weigh more than 20 g? I am not a Coleoptera expert (or even knowledgable) but these things can't be more than, what, 5-6 cm long?

And you are right, the concept is baked.
