Visit dead friends and relatives at their homes in cyberspace.
Animated characters that look like the deceased (doppelgangers) inhabit virtual houses and apartments in cyber-space. Rooms can be decorated with the furniture and objects they had in life. Home movies and videos can be played on monitors
in their homes. Dopplegangers of favorite dead/yet living pets could be
included to keep their master's/mistresses company.
Entire families can be virtually reunited.
I am not sure if the doppelgangers talk (getting a realistic sounding copy of a voice might be hard to resolve) but if voice recordings were made while potential residents were still alive then actors perhaps actors could be hired to imitate them.
Each of the virtual living dead would have an email account. Messages could be written by future inhabitants loaded onto the site (or provided by the site), then periodically sent out to the living. Another possibility is that those left behind write the messages so the dead could tell them exactly what they wanted to hear.

(?) PERPETUAL MEMORIAL WEBSITES

Id hate to see what this "Virtual Necropolis" would look like..,if the site was hacked.... |

//if the site was hacked...// |

Yeah, that's definitely desecration of the dead. But then again, dead hackers might like to have people take a shot at hacking them. |

This is a great idea. Sort of like a virtual re-enaction of a dead person's life. You could meet them, have a chat and just look at their life. If an IMVU-style interface and screen were used, this would be revolutionary. |
|
|
Maybe famous and infamous people could be posthumously added, like Abraham Lincoln, Adolf Hitler or Gandi. The "talking" would probably be chat-speak. This has been done in the form of chatbots like Smarterchild. |
|
|
A city of the dead would be very nice. Granted, you would probably have to pay to be added after death or to get an account in life, but it would be worth it. |
|
|
What if the deceased had been cremated? Would there be a talking urn instead? |
|
|
The base of the dea is to capture what a
dead person was like before death. If the
person lived life as a urn, they would be an
urn. If a person lived as a humanoid figure,
got creamated and put an a urn, their
avatar would be humanoid. |
