The problem of retaining a deckchair in a busy prime
seaside location has now been solved with The Venus
Flytrap Deckchair
It's a simple idea that consists of a standard deckchair
being modified to take on some of the characteristics of a
Venus Fly trap.
To sit on it you have to force
it into the open position using
a handcrank to overcome the powerful spring that
otherwise keeps it closed up.
Once fully deployed, a two digit code of choice keeps the
deckchair safely locked open but primed for when you
want to take a short break away, perhaps to enjoy a dip in
the sea or the pool.
On sitting down again, the deckhair will expect the code to
be inserted once more within a few minutes. Failure to do
so triggers a release of the spring and the chair snaps shut
like a Venus fly trap, only now containing the pesky
deckchair usurper.
Super fiendish version features rapid chemical digestion
and disposal of miscreant.

It's not real you know... |

It's hard to hide mechanical latches given close enough
observation. |

If I were a deckchair usurper, I would tend to avoid the one
with the overly-heavy built frame, large springs, and
complicated mechanism that looks like it's designed to spring
closed. |
