Instead of wearing out my brake pads going down the long hill into town each day, how about an optional platform that I can pull onto with other vehicles. We then ride down to the bottom while the gravitational force of our vehicles combined weight turns turbines that contribute to the electrical needs of the community.

There could also be an "upside" escalator for those going up - for example: two vehicles going down, one going up. Whatever the combo, as long as the weight met the needs of moving the vehicles and turning the turbines.

Additional benefits: Those taking the time to pull onto a platform and ride up save on gas. Give those who take the time to use the down escalator a credit towards their electric bill.
