Can I add 'We don't do things by halves'?
[link]
"half-assed" and "half-baked" are not synonymic. |
We have loaves, dwarves, and scarves.... isn't that enough? |
Idea kernel.... range of scarves, made from dough, suitable only for wearing by dwarves who know how to bake bread. |
This idea had so much potential based on the title, and
delivered so far short of it. |

I think the poster is asking about the tagline under the croissant image; and wants to add one (or more). But Jutta is in charge of that, right? I know there's a particular "idea" that is really a list of proposed taglines, but I'm not sure how many of them ever became Official. |
^ ohhhhhhhhhhh... <facepalm> |
long answer: Of course !!! |
The procedure is to mark somebody's comment, of a reasonable fitting size, followed by the HB pseudotag [marked-for- tagline]. Marking your own, should you choose the auto-titillation route, would be something you'd put on your accounts page, with the aforementioned notation. |
Every 6 months the site owner or a trusted officer goes through all the quotations, tagged since the last time, and chooses the exceptional ones, supplementing and occasionally replacing the older ones in the stack. |
The very best of the best is chosen to awe our Internet readership with the finest examples of the Halfbakery's self-referential wit. |
Have we done "Halfwitted"? |
Or, for that matter "See how the odder half lives"? |

I was very pleased once, when someone so tagged something I'd said. Finally. A day or two later, the idea was deleted. |

I think it bought the farm. If there's going to be another such list, why not here? |

I agree with [ytk]- I was imagining a giant croissant umbrella! |
[Loris] - [jutta] took it away and didn't want another list, if I remember correctly. (half-right)? |

At the risk of elf-promotion: |

The idea was called "(Mostly) Lame Halfbakery Taglines" and it was one of UnaBubba's. Wayback has it up to 24th Nov 2009, and it was gone on 27th Dec. My guess is that's when Unabubba killed his old account. |
That's one in the eye for the Bubfuscators. |
I know that, but [jutta] said not to open another one.
I loved it, don't get me wrong! |

It's correct that I asked for the tagline list to move
off the halfbakery website--it's not an idea, it
grew really large, and the article format doesn't
suit it very well (both in the database and on
display). Not to mention the disconnect between
"here's a whole list of things one or more people
found funny" and the actual tagline. |
Just drop a marked-for-tagline somewhere in the
text, or, in case of extreme, immediate hilarity,
drop a line to bakesperson@gmail.com. After ten+
years of this, riffs on "half", "elf", and baked goods
aren't as funny to me as they may have been at
the beginning, though. These days I like quotes
better where someone is being unintentionally,
earnestly funny. |
Your mileage will vary, and that's okay. It's a
subjective choice. |
