Two Word Limericks
You need a word that's a noun, a verb and an adjective and some time to kill. | |
Here's my first try:
"Bet better better bet better.
Better bet better bet better bet.
Better better bet better.
Bet bet better better...
bet better better better bet."
Translation:
"Bet better better bet better." The person making the bet (bet
better) had better wager
more skillfully. (better bet better)
"Better bet better bet better bet." The more skillfull gambler ,
(the better bet better) made a superior wager. (better bet)
"Better better bet better." The more skillfull gambler made a
superior wager as was mentioned before.
"Bet bet better better..." So I bet that the novice bet maker had
better...
"bet better better better bet." ... make the better gambler (better
better) a better bet.
Adding a couple of words helps it make a little more sense.
(The) bet better (had) better bet better.
(A) better bet better bet (a) better bet.
(The) Better better bet better.
(I) Bet (the) bet better better...
bet (the) better better (a) better bet."
Although limericks are probably like jokes. If you need charts and
graphs to explain them they might not be the best in the world.
Still, only two words.
You could probably do a one word limerick if you were clever.

A one letter limerick could be composed with the letter "i". |
|
|
Or a Zen limerick, with no words whatsoever ... |
|
|
Buffalo buffalo Buffalo buffalo buffalo buffalo Buffalo buffalo. |

Q: Which watch for which witch is which?
A: Watch which witch watches which watch.

It probably would be easier in Chinese. |
|
|
Some swear words actually work pretty well but as you can
imagine, the limericks they make aren't appropriate for a
tasteful web site such as this. |
|
|
\\It probably would be easier in Chinese.\\
Not only easier, but baked. Except that they're not called limericks. They're called Li-Mu-er-Yi-Ke. |

Except I think it would make a better Haiku than a Limerick. |

[bigsleep]: You'll never make sergeant with that sort of march. |

Limericks are meant to rhyme. |

I have quit reading this. It's made me dizzy and I can't take
it anymore. |

A new Halfbaker! Welcome, [Altoidian], to the
Ministry of Unsound or, as some seem to call it, the
Halfbakery. People who, like yourself, are masters of
the apostrophe are particularly welcome here. |
|
|
Don't worry about the dizziness. It's perfectly normal
and will worsen over time. It bothered me too for
the first four or five years. After that it gave way to a
sort of buzzing sensation. |

Hey, just noticed that my two work limerick and
one
word limerick are both in the category "Culture:
poetry" but neither shows up in that category when
you're looking at the other one. Glitch? |
|
|
Is my poetry so bad it causes the system to melt
down? |
|
|
Unrelated: Miss ya Max old buddy. |
|
|
Oh shoot, obviously. I didn't think of that. |
|
|
Thank you a1. I've said dumber things in my life but none
come to mind right now. |
|
|
You've been keeping a list eh? That's not creepy at all. |
|
|
You've read each and every one of my literally hundreds of
ideas? |
|
|
Now I really AM creeped out. |
|
|
You don't have like... pictures of me with my eyes blacked out
all around your basement where you do that tuck-your-junk
dance like
the guy in Silence Of The Lambs do you? |
|
|
So is there some reason why you so diligently hide your
superior intelligence when you post on this site? Some kind of
undercover thing to hide your true genius identity? The ruse
works very well, gotta hand it to you. If you hadn't implied
otherwise I'd think you were just another knuckle dragging
troll. |

[Altoidian] I need a right-hand-man. You fit the bill. Email me. |

My daughter made up this one: |
|
|
Juan Wahn, Wun Too, Tu Wan, and Tu Tew had three
races. |
|
|
Wun Too won two, and Tu Wan won one too. |
