Just take a regular chair and make a slit down the middle big enough for the legs on the table to slide into.

Table Leg Straddling Chair http://ablecare.tv/...5&page=2&ProdID=416
If it is not formal enough for your dining room, many people find these useful in the shower. [jurist, Mar 07 2006]

Why would this be better than tucking normal chairs under the table?
jellydoughnut, Mar 05 2006

Put a flip-up seat on those chairs you wish to tuck around the table leg. (Damn, Canuck left the seat up again!)

Or use a table with a pedestal base instead.

Or build a chair-notch into each table leg.
<aside - I wish I could draw worth a damn - aside>.

Or hang the table-top from the ceiling.

Or use fewer chairs around the table.

I'm so full of bright ideas I have brown eyes. Oh, wait, that's something else...

I'm somewhat hazy on how to post a drawing even if you could draw.
jellydoughnut, Mar 05 2006

A select few 'bakers with artistic talent have the capability to post their fabulous interpretations of our pedestrian thoughts (Do I sound envious? Nah!). With very good reason, I think. There's no need for people like me to even put pencil to paper when you've seen what folks like bristolz can create.
Canuck, Mar 05 2006

I meant that I might like to post some myself. Do you know how I would go about doing such a thing?
jellydoughnut, Mar 05 2006

I think all you need to do is contact the bakesperson in charge and they'll go about getting you set up for it. If you check out the help page there's an email address.

       Thanks.

[jelly] - Do your sketch, post it to anywhere on the internet at all (blog/photosharing/myspace etc.) and link to it.

Oh yes, v. good idea. Simple and solves an actual problem rather than one that's been invented after the solution has been thought of.

Interesting spelling error on [jurist's] link. Mistaking Perennial for Perianal.
oneoffdave, Mar 07 2006

Ha! I briefly wondered about the use of perennial in that context, but hadn't run across the word "perianal" until your annotation caused me to look it up. I'll add it to my vocabulary.

       I like this one...

       4 on each chair.
