Triple tap colour changing buttons

Pause button - does it pause or play? What about a colour changing delete button that goes to yellow orange red then deleted.

Because have you by error or dialed someone by accident?

You presss the button once it turns yellow Tap it again it turns orange Tap it again it turns red Tap it again and you get a dialogue

How do you know what the different colours signify?

There needs to be some sort of consensus among GUI designers; some buttons show "state that is the result when button is pushed", while others show "current state, which changes when button is pushed". It can be a nuisance.
