"Wanna see something cool? Hey Barky, treat time!"
Barky enthusiastically walks in and to the amazement of guests, trots up to a plastic device on the floor with several controls on it (picture a crib mounted baby learning activity toy with various switches, dials, buttons etc.) and a dispensing dish
at the bottom.
The dog reaches up with its paw, pushes a button, turns a dial, flips a switch, rings a bell, pushes a slider and as a result, a treat comes out.
The gathered guests gasp as they have just witnessed this happy little pup basically act like a pilot starting up a Boeing 787.
This is achieved by having the dog learn one step at a time. First step they push a button and a treat comes out. After a few weeks of mastering this, the owner flips the control on the back to "Step Two" and another control is activated and necessary to dispense the treat, flipping a switch for instance. Then another, and another, till they can master 4, 5 or more various controls in the proper sequence to get their treat. The owner obviously demonstrates step.
Would take some patience but I think this would be a lot of fun for pet and owner alike.
Pretty sure cats could do this too. Interesting to have a little competition between your critters.
