Although this may at first glace seem a little fascist, maybe a little extreme, Transparent tables in school could be a wonderful idea.
Harking back to my own school days I remember the passing of notes under the table. The sticking of chewing gum under the table. Rude gestures directed at the teacher
from behind the cover of the opaque wooden table.
At a cursory glance it would appear that this would only benefit the teacher alowing him/her to police the class more easily but much more serious than this, bullying in class through the passing of notes would be seriously cut down. The expense of getting these tables into schools may mean that only those schools with excess money could afford them (poor old english education). However think of the the anti bullying potential.
Baked.

and transparent bike sheds? |

If you could somehow make them one-way transparent (so only the teacher could see through 'em) it would make the teacher seem to have awesome x-ray vision powers! SuperTeacher! |

I like the one way vision idea, kids hate it when you notice something that they think they've got away with. You could have special Matrix agent style specks and raze your eyebrow saying something like |
|
|
"so Mr Anderson I see your trying to curl one out to impress wendy jacobs." |
|
|
even though they think are thumping behind the comfort of thier "opaque" desk! |

Yes, and the concept of students is baked as well. That being said, this idea is original. |

"Gimme all your lunch money or I'll pass a note in class!" |

At girls' schools the passing of notes is a major contributory factor to bullying. Girls are both stealthy and viscious in thier bullying they dont tend to resort to fisty cuffs. |
