Tick collar for humans. Safe, labratory tested, UL approved. Deer Tick season, lovely, is that black dot moving, do I see legs? They're about twice the size of this period ( .), no joke. Is that a freckle or what. I'm not a fan of parasites, but hey, you gotta eat.

"Safe for pets, people and children." (By the way, if you buy one of these, let me know - there's a bridge I need to unload.) [DrCurry, Oct 21 2004]

Like this [Curry]? http://www.pctex.com/images/bridge.jpg

But you kinda want to keep the ticks off your legs, not your neck, surely? Well, I mean, you want to keep them off your neck as well, but they mostly jump onto your legs, and I don't know if they ever get as far as your neck.

Don't let Waug see this, or prepare youself for a [MFD] onslaught. He seems rather against applying animal products to humans... I'm not though, so (+).

I think it's your head that you don't want them to get to. Might just be an old wives tail but I've heard that they burrow painlessly into your skull, lay eggs and then the babies complete the journey into your brain.
Oh yeah, and there is also that lime disease thing to worry about.

You can buy wristbands, and some suggest ankle wear as well. I was surprised by the low effectiveness times [link]. The bands can last a couple of minutes before the first bite. Ticks are crafty. They'll crawl on your clothes til they find an ingress, where the Deet is weak.

silverstormer: nope, this one goes to Brooklyn (that's why they don't need it any more).
Amos: I would have thought you, of all people, with a name like that, would be down on this idea.

       I knew it was lyme.
I knew it, I typed it, and this damn machine told me I was wrong. Infernal contraptions. I guess I'll just have to throw it out and get one that works properly.
Again.

Do you think they'll be able to fix it?

I'm of the mindset that skinheads got their start by shaving due to headlice.
