A third flashing lamp positioned centrally between the two existing turn signals, at the front and rear of the vehicle.
Flashes whenever the other turn signals are not operating, and the vehicle is powered and capable of movement.
Indicates to other road users that the driver intends to turn neither
left nor right, but rather to continue straight, either in forward or reverse.
Vital for those who seem unable to grasp from the cues given by another vehicle's road position what the driver's intentions are likely to be.
Not entirely dissimilar to this idea

I've occasionally wanted this (at specific times, not "always on"), &
also a "U-turn" indicator.
Unfortunately, if you did put this on normal cars for normal people,
they would mostly just neglect to use it like the existing indicators... |

Ah, but that's the great advantage of this; the light is the default mode when no other signal is selected - thus the driver cannot neglect or ignore it. |

Thankfully, some people just can't be read. Life would be either be pretty heavy or sickly sweet. |

Also think of the autonomous vehicles; "That I have function vs. just parked" could make a big difference to them. |

The universal translator got a rude surprise and is now high on life. End result, the translator has quit employment. A new, unknown, replacement is due any day now. |
