Thermo-wave - thingy

A method of reheating food.

All too often when re-heating food in the microwave the outside is overcooked while the centre of the dish is cold, as served by my local publican at my 'working lunch' today. Thermo-imaging technology could be used to detect the hottest part of the product and divert microwave energy away from these areas towards the cooler part (inner), thus ensuring an evenly heated lasagne.!!

       Micro waves heat food molecules from the inside > out, but do not heat a mass of food molecules this way. Those on the outer edges of the food mass will be far hotter and invariabley overcooked before the centre of the food portion is heated through.

       Thanks for the link bris: 30mm of efficient heating. Compare that to a 5'' x 4'' lasagne = cold in the middle.

       Don't microwave ovens already have rotating deflectors to spread the microwaves around? Perhaps we haven't the technology yet to aim at the center of the oven.

       The obvious solution is to use gamma rays instead of microwaves. Gamma rays can be directed to focus at precise locations.   

       A gamma ray oven is going to run you some bucks, though.
