The Uterine Sisters

Venerating the Most Blessed Uterus of the Mother of God

The "Sacred Heart of Jesus" and the "Most Immaculate Heart of Mary" are both regarded as objects of veneration for Catholics. Churches, feast days, and religious orders are named for each. (19 days after Pentecost, and 22 August, respectively.)

So it might seem strange that there is no veneration for that most important of organs as far as the whole Christianity story goes: the Womb of the Blessed Virgin.

(There is an indirect shoutout, of course, in the Ave Maria: "Blessed art thou amongst women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus.")

Hence, I suggest the establishment of a new order of women religious, the Sisters of the Most Blessed Uterus of the Mother of God, to be known informally as the "Uterine Sisters."

This order would be tasked with the care of orphans and unwed mothers, and with the provision of reproductive education to young women and girls.

Of course, there may be other orders as well, related to other parts of the Sanctified Reproductive System.

" Of course, there may be other orders as well, related to other parts of the Sanctified Reproductive System. "

Oh, you mean the worship observance that lasts for one week every month...

I don't know virgin Marys from shit, but I wouldn't have expected her to have a uterus. Surely she would just have had some sort of internal heavenly cloud from which the baby cheeses emerged, without all that mess?

I'm pretty sure that if this was islam, you'd be dead by now for suggesting all that anatomy. And in any case, who's the virgin Mary in islam?
MaxwellBuchanan, Feb 25 2016

There are numerous religious artefacts pertaining to bits of human anatomy deposited at various locations around the world. The head of Oliver Plunkett may be visited in Drogheda in Ireland for example. Another idea begins to form......

There couldn't be any bodily relics of Mary, though, as doctrine holds that she was Assumed bodily into Heaven...

Are you sure you're not thinking of the Challenger astronauts?

Regarding Maxwell's question regarding the Holy Birth, here is a little-known text from the 10th century or so, accredited to a Fra Lamazia:

"Preme, O virgo sancta, preme" ("Push, O Holy Virgin, push")

o virgo beata immaculata cervix minime dilata

       preme virgo sancta preme

       spira spira spira

o virgo beata immaculata cervix nunc dilata

       contractio maior nunc incipit dolor

       contractiones celeriores magnificant dolores

preme virgo sancta preme preme virgo sancta preme preme preme preme

       alleluia

And regarding Mary's place in Islam, see link.

I think all these points were addressed by the Greek philosopher Epididymus.
