The title really should be in all caps, y'know.
Some "primitive" tribes are wary of cameras because they think the camera captures some of their souls along with their image... well, how much of your soul would be TRAPPED INSIDE YOUR SMARTPHONE if that were true??
An evil smartphone app is spreading
like wildfire through the little town of SImple, North Dakota. Use the app, and your soul is sucked RIGHT OUT OF YOUR HEAD into your smartphone, and your empty shell of a living body is filled by... something else.
Of course, it's the clueless dork with an old wireless phone the size of a hoagie who figures out what's going on...

I hate to spoil the plot, but nobody has ever
encountered a tribe, primitive or otherwise, who
believe that cameras capture part (or all) of their
souls. |
|
|
There are plenty of tribes who, having
encountered more technologically advanced
people once or twice before, are rather unhappy
about people pointing pieces of machinery at
them. But that is an entirely different bicker of
eels. |

We foresee a starring rôle for Tony Blair who, having no soul, would
be immune to the effects of the app. |

Hmm, a bit Stross-y but could be interesting... |

"Joy is a net of love by which you can catch souls."
And so are phones, I suppose. Just don't tell Mother
Teresa. |

I think [Maxwell] is wrong here. There are certain
cultures who do believe that taking their photo will
capture their soul. I have read that certain Indian
tribes, some Japanese sects, Aborigines and others
who do
believe this. [+] |

Well I believe taking a photo takes a little of the soul, so there the argument is settled. But I am not of a primitive culture! |

This could be a good movie, like the japanese ring and the likes. |
