The dreadful karaoke machine provides backing tracks by removing the vocal - allowing that fool at your local pub/cafe to amuse us all by adding his own voice to Frank Sinatra's New York New York. How we wish he wouldn't do the actions too.
As well you know, not all of us can sing.
As the original
music was recorded with (at least) 8 tracks, I propose a home system that allows you to select only the instruments that you want to hear. Why not leave out the guitar and play along to "Smoke on the water"
Imagine the new muso-karaoke bars where you bring along your piano to play along to Elton John hits on the muso-karaoke machine.
Well.... twas just an idea.

I like it - it's got a beat and you can dance to it. But what of those who can't sing or play instruments? Can you turn on all tracks and just stand there? |
|
|
... that would be the CD player you're thinking of there. I'm afraid I can't claim that idea - its fully baked. |

Somebody already suggested this. But, I can't find it, so it's possible you're in the clear. |

tsk. arse. never mind eh. |

Like DrCurry, I was sure we did this already, but the idea seems to have been deleted. However, see link for an idea for a very specific track. |

It was one of mine that I never put back. "Instrument Karaoke" - just a vocal track, no music at all. |

there *is* something, a mere hint of a whiff of the familiar on this page indeed. |

Went googling for a cached version of waugs' old idea (no luck) but found something else. This idea is baked! Apparently the generic term for this sort of thing is MMO for "Music Minus One". There are a variety of disks you can buy, and even contests. See links. |

Yes, someone linked to those on my idea also. It differed from my idea (as this idea does) in that my suggestion had no music whatsoever, just the vocal (and an off/on metronome for synchonizing). |
