Basically, a tourist first-aid book that contains pictures and descriptions of the injuries, infections, and boils likely to be caused by critters/poisons of varying sizes and bacterianess in overseas countries.
Of course, it includes recommended treatment options for each, and local pronunciation
with phoenetic spelling, in the event you have to go to het ziekenhuis.
EDIT: Been six months since I posted this, and now I wonder how many people looked up what "het ziekenhuis" meant?
Worst-Case Scenario: Travel
http://www.amazon.c...product/0811831310/ The "Worst-Case Scenario Survival Handbook" is a successful franchise of half-serious guide books to vicarious catastrophe. As one would expect, they do have a title on travel (as well as on dating, holidays, and golf). [jutta, Jul 27 2006]
Point it
http://www.amazon.c...8?v=glance&n=283155 has some great stuff to point towards. [xenzag, Jul 27 2006]

am sure its baked but yeah, great! |
We could all work on the text together and share updates with all the travellers who bought it.
You know, make it open sores. |
[Originally, I marked for deletion because of the horrible pun in the title - I figured the idea itself was a complete afterthought. Since the author and some of the annotators are willing to keep the idea even without the pun, it can stay. You should put the original title back, though. It's not puns I object to, it's ideas that don't stand on their own.] |

EDIT: //Open sores// *groan* |
I like it and its title + more a malapropism
than a pun I believe (pesky pedant), and
therefore deserving of unmarking for
deletion. |
//Open Sores // god, that was bad ;) |
I think that this might be quite useful, if you get hurt in a country which you don't speak the language of. Important to include how to say 'Take me to the hospital!' in 452.2 languages. |
Having defended its fine malaporpism,
which is now sadly confined to the back
stalls, I can now verify that the idea is
somewhat baked, by a delightful book of
which I have a copy - see link. In fairness
[shapu] your idea does focus on injuries
etc, and retains that aspect of originality. |
