The 21st Century House

Laugh if you dare ...

A multi-episode sitcom in which a family from the 23rd century try to live in an early 21st century house.

Shot in a "fly on the wall" style, like "The Wartime House" and "The Edwardian farm", it shows the family struggling to cope with the limitations of two hundred years ago. No replicators - food has to be "cooked". No antigrav tubes - the occupants have to move from level to level using "stairs". The kids whine about the lack of fully immersive thought-controlled holographic games, and are baffled when presented with a physical "game controller" that has "buttons" and "switches". As for hygiene... the daughter nearly has a nervous breakdown when she finds that in 2015, the Three Seashells are unknown.

Chuckle as Dad struggles to learn to drive an automobile. Wince at Mun's well meaning attemts at cooking, and her contests with the washing machine. Gloat as the kids descend into a morass of sulks and bad temper.

All human life is there ...

Could have cut-aways to expert psychologists and behavioral scientists wo give a commentary ont he dangers of this antiquated lifestyle, and the compromises the programme-makers have had to make, to stop the occupants going mad. And a "confessional booth" where family members own up in private to the modern conveniences and gadgets they have managed to smuggle in with them.

The children will be horrified to discover that the Halfbakery had no theme music in the 2000's.

My volume has increased approximately 30% in the last decade and a half. This is precisely because I have not been missing out.
