       Ah yes, I can completely see the point of this. It's cunningly designed so that when you're descending, the Valvular Conduit blocks the flow of air, much like a normal round 'chute. But when you find yourself falling upwards, as happens from time to time, the air passes easily through and you are not impeded.   

       Obviously not of much use in those parts of the world where the gravity only points downward, but elsewhere it would be a real boon.
