One thing I notice when trying to transport music equipment is that the ratio of usefulness to the amount of space that a stand takes up in a car's trunk is extremely low, but I've had to repair several guitars after they've fallen over from a wall or amp I've leaned them against.
The idea is that
it could be more compact if the main tube and support legs were telescoping, and the bottom claw folds up, and the top one folds down, and this is now a run on sentence.
So, to operate, extend the main tube, fold the top fork up, then extend all the legs and fold the bottom fork down. I imagine that the stand would take up much less area this way.
