I print a lot of things just because I need information side by side instead of stacked in windows on my computer screen. An hour later the prints are just trash. The solution is electronic ink (see link). The monitor has a "printer" attached that prints on the electronic paper. It could be a feature of the monitor so it doesn't need any special drivers and works on most systems. Push a button and get a screen shot. When you are done just stuff the sheet back into the monitor. If you think the material needs long term preservation on paper slap the e-ink sheet on a copier and copy on paper before you do that.

"Electronic paper" is just a special type of display. What you're asking for are side-by-side displays (albeit thin ones). I don't see anything new here.

So, [phoenix] despite the fact that this is a new way to use emerging technology to make a side-by-side display extremely portable, allow for it to go away on demand, and facilitate transfer to disposable paper, you can't see how this is different in any way from having two monitors?

If someone developed and posted workable specs for a cheaply manufactured engine that ran on dirt, would you say "engines have been invented" and mfd it?

       + for kbecker.

I would if the dirt were mixed with gasoline and then extracted prior to combustion.

[kbecker] is taking a display technology and making a display out of it. So what?

Now, if the idea had involved LiteBrites or some such...

Your video card not have dual-head support?

       It's all easily done.

Take an etch-a-sketch and bracket it up beside your monitor.
