All teapots should be sold with a pair of lids, just like all suits should be sold with a pair of pairs of trousers.
That way when you inevitably damage one, the second can be swung into action.

Metal teapot. Hinged lid. Sorted. |
I know where to get a good lid... |
Yes - we have 2 teapots without lids skulking in the kitchen
somewhere. |
We were not aware until now that teapots knew how to skulk. Amazing. |
Most teapot manufacturers sell replacement lids. |
What if the teapot is broken ? Do the lid manufacturers also make replacement teapots ? Are these the sort than skulk ? |
What if its the pots not the lids that's faulty? |
Most teapot manufacturers will buy surplus lids. |
I'm surprised you stoop to using teapots from manufacturers. I would have expected handmade by hereditary peasants in the mountains of lower Tibet, at the very least. |
Hereditary peasants are all very well and good, but
they know bugger all about teapots. Mr. Spode is our
usual supplier. |
This would put the custom tea pot lid makers out of business. As well as the lid arbitrageurs. |
But as a coffee drinker, It is the mug terrorists that most concern me. |
I don't believe I have ever seen a tea pot without a hinged
lid. I feel deprived. I said DEPRIVED, NOT DEPRAVED. |
"Deranged" would be when you bumped the hinged lid and
knocked the whole thing off the stove. |
I almost feel sorry for the teapots, hiding as they do at the
back of cupboards behind those dusty legions of crockpots,
cake tins and accidentally slightly-melted microwave tubs. |
Perhaps in tumuli of the future, instead of brightly flashing
swords encrusted with jewels, they will find teapots
without lids. |
// but they know bugger all about teapots.// as do most
of the hotels in the UK, judging by the way that they
dribble tea onto the table, drop the lid into the cup, scald
the user, or prevent the input of tea bags.* |
*edit: the teapots, not the hotels. |
You simply need to patronise a better class of hotel. |
