Remember Demolition Man? A rapidly expanding foam which hardens and provides protection from the various loads and stresses of impact. The idea is to go further, as we could also give this foam nutritional value (and perhaps a bit of flavor), more useful in cases where the accident happens in remote areas, such as with an airplane crash. I considered using the foam as a firestarting aid, but, well... you see the difficulty there. (perhaps with a catalyst? Harmless until needed.)

I think that there is now expanding foam used for insulation which is made from soybeans and is edible and non-toxic.

My appetite would be slow returning after a severe impact ... I'd prefer some warm, slightly used bathwater to peanuts. I wonder what delights await when these are grilled?

That's why I wasn't really thinking of cars so much as airplanes... sooner or later, if you've survived that long, you'll get hungry. Would you like your Cessna Skyhawk in Lemon Chiffon or Chocolate Cream?

       Well, why not? +

So, I guess rum flavor would be a bad idea...

Worth a bun for the title alone, which sounds like something Douglas Adams would have liked.

Trout, that's probably the nicest thing anyone's ever said to me. Thanks.
