You know what I mean...when you go to start that new roll of packing tape...but where is the start anyway...for the rolls that don't have the handy plaid start indicator. But...why put a start at all. Call it Escher tape.

(I can't seem to find the right place to put this notion. I seem to remember a section on this site where a person could put items that were designed to be normal but with subtly annoying characteristics.)

aha....another fine product brought to you by "Bastards Incorporated".

Case in point, Transpore™ and similar medical tape comes in those handy to hold and easy to tear rolls. The stuff is so easy to tear linearly and so next to invisible that if you *oops* pull wrong, you spin off six inches of 1/8" wide tape and the other 7/8" is left behind. Now there's two nearly invisible tape strings vying to cling to you.

If the tape would turn blue or orange where it tears, that would solve the problem.

How about Moebius tape? It doesn't end, doesn't start, and is dual-sided!(?)
salmon, May 13 2001

Moebius tape would only have one side. Would all of it be sticky?
StarChaser, May 13 2001

All of it would be half as sticky as needed.

What was Reggie Perrin's company called? This sounds like the kind of thing they would have sold.

Grot. sorry a bit slow responding there, hippo.

Eight track adhesive tape. It's in a big loop inside the cartridge.
