Tally of Literary Figure Write-in Candidate Votes

"In election news, James Bond received an unprecedented 23% of the popular vote."
  (+10)(+10)
(+10)
  [vote for,
against]

The idea is twofold:

1- Allow people a fun way to protest a ballot full of horrible candidates by writing in a fictional character who embodies their values and...

2- Give future candidates a message as to what kind of leader we might want in the future.

If Ghandi is getting 80% of the write in votes, well ok, there's a message the candidates might glean from that. If however the number one write in candidate for the sixth election in a row is Dirty Harry, well, there's a message in that as well.

To clarify, the idea is to monitor ALL write in votes including those specifying imaginary people and to encourage those who like none of the above to have some fun and get a message about their values to future leaders.

James Bond - only 23%?? What sort of people are you?!
MaxwellBuchanan, Nov 08 2016

If Dirty Harry gets more than 6 votes, the probable message is to move.

Bond regularly performs driving infractions and I've never seen him so much as pay a parking ticket.

What kind of message is 'Mickey Mouse?' That we need more joy and levity in politics?
RayfordSteele, Nov 08 2016

See? These are real metrics here. You can learn a lot about a group of people by which fictional character they'd choose as their leader.

Of course the voter could opt out of the whole exercise by writing in candidates like "I.C. Wiener" or "Ivanna Tinkle", but then their vote would be wasted on somebody stupid that wouldn't be able to give them anything they promised. Ahem.

       "For Yoda, vote ! "
8th of 7, Nov 08 2016

Yea, I'm down with Yoda. Wants peace but knows when it's time to kick ass. Good one.

Spock would be mine I guess. Him or Kirk. I guess if you can write in the VP it'd be a Kirk / Spock ticket.
doctorremulac3, Nov 08 2016

Kirk/Spock would be OK. Picard/Riker ... maybe not so much.

       I'd vote for Q.
the porpoise, Nov 08 2016

Q: one of the trickier, more elusive letters of the alphabet.

Myself, I'd vote for E, a letter for the common man, versatile, often silent but effective.

Eh, Gandhi wasn't a fictional character. Where's El Pedanto when you need him most?

Does Robin Hood count as fictional or real?
Vernon, Nov 09 2016

       Yes.
8th of 7, Nov 09 2016

[8th of 7], I sort-of thought that might be the answer (real dude, fictional/exaggerated exploits). So, if this Idea is about picking a write-in candidate because of fictional exploits, then Robin Hood might sometimes be a good choice for some voters. And on the same basis, Arthur Pendragon might be another good choice.

So did I. What was your Gandy's first name?
