Let's put the real experts - negotiators, psychologists, politicians, military tacticians and game theory specialists - together.
That should cook up some really good strategies and make the series a bit more challenging and interesting.

Let's put military survivalists together on an island. Or better still, a group of select individuals from the remaining canabilistic societies of the world...or better still, tabloid journalists. No! Professional wrestlers. Or better still, representatives from the best and most successful predatory species of the world. Yes, let us see how lions and Komodo dragons and grizzly bears match up with the underdog, homo sap. Unarmed, of course. Or is this just another way of playing Trivial Pursuit? |

Wrestlers are a good idea. I envisage a "Royal Rumble" encompassing the whole island. Should anyone feel the urge to smash a chair over someone, they will first have to construct it using forest materials and driftwood. |

The people who are chosen now a) are crazy enough to deprive themselves of adequate food, water and shelter for 6 weeks, b) are physically attractive, for the most part c) mirror the demographics of viewers, and d) are interesting, expressive, and compelling. Your "pros" wouldn't necessarily have these traits at all. CBS spends bucketloads on casting; they know what they're doing. |

The commercial failure (relatively) of Eco-challenge, as well as the failure of Kel (Military tactician) and the blonde Behavioral Analyst whose name I'm forgetting from S4 further demonstrate that "pros" would not necessarily be more popular or better at Survivor. |

Better yet, let's put the specified group out there, convince them there's a prize, and then just keep them there. Contestants voted 'off the island' would simply be moved onto a different island, where they'd discover the real news. |
|
|
Then wait about a year, and send a camera crew in to film whomever is left. |
