Supermarket Hive

Every bee makes a slightly different buzz, and it is the combination of many such sounds that creates the hypnotic undulating hum of a hive or swarm.

This idea (which has no real practical function) transfers the characteristic sound of a busy bee hive into that of a large supermarket. Here's how it's done:
Each trolley is equipped with the recorded noise of an individual bee. This makes the trolleys all produce a unique note, activated when the trolley is removed from its parking place.

The sounds are low volume, but when the supermarket is busy the combined effect is to produce the noise of a busy hive. Due to sensors, the notes of the trolley bees also increase in volume and alter subtly in pitch when they are in proximity to each other.

Trolleys abandoned in the car parking area become very loud and agitated until they are rescued.

Wearing of bee costumes when shopping is optional.

I wonder whether a beard of trolleys could be achieved.

Every aisle in the supermarket only stocks honey based products

[pocmloc]; I think "at least one" rather than "only". Otherwise, it's a niche health-food store, not a supermarket.
Include a randomly-selected "queen bee" trolley, that the other trolleys will <pondering...> slow down around (automatically-applied brakes), maybe change their buzz? (I considered "follow around", but decided that's just too complicated.)

Lookin to trigger some phobias with this one, Xen? Bun if you can get Macaulay Culkin to be the spokesman.

I don't see the problem. honey-sweetened baked beans, honey scented toilet paper, honey buns, honey beer, honey mead, honey scented air freshener, honey glazed ham, honey washed soft cheese, honey filled chocolates, all these are commercially available to stock your shelves. The only things you couldn't get in honey flavour would be raw ingredients such as flour, fruit, veg, wholefoods etc. but there are plenty of supermarkets that don't bother stocking that kind of rabbit-food shite anyway.

Would work for trolleys, but how, physically, can 45,000 bees each make a different sound?
4and20, Mar 20 2022

Every life form is individual and unique, just as people are. This means they each make a slightly different sound. No two bee sounds are 100% identical.
