The American wholesaler Costco now allows you to purchase vehicles through them at a pre-arranged price through local dealers.

Taking this a step further, Costco should introduce the Kirkland Signature® Luxury Compact™. It would only come in white, with an automatic transmission, and with all of the popular options.

It would be in every way identical to, say, a Toyota Camry, but with a Kirkland Signature badge in place of the Toyota oval-T.

Can't help but feel that some store did this already - Sears, maybe?

       Yep, way back when.

Bring it back, then. I hate the bargaining aspect of car shopping.
baconbrain, Aug 30 2006

Cool I can get a Walmartmobile.
jhomrighaus, Aug 30 2006

[jhomrighaus] Are you proposing that they bring back the Yugo?
Galbinus_Caeli, Aug 30 2006

I have teased the contractors (builders) working on my house by saying they get their trucks at costco. At least half of them drive identical red Ford F150 pickups. They look like they came in a giant plastic clamshell pack from costco. I don't know how they tell them apart.

The Tesco car would have to be white with blue stripes.

Would I have to buy this car in a "family pack" of three to get the discount?
Freefall, Aug 30 2006

Finally! Car buying for those rebels among us who think a car is just a tool to get from here to there. I'm all for it.
Heathera, Aug 30 2006

[Galbinus_Caeli] Only if it has the Walmart logo on it and that big stupid smiley face as a hood ornament.
jhomrighaus, Aug 30 2006

So you want a cheap car and are willing to sacrifice quality and brand name identity. Just get a Hyundai.
discontinuuity, Aug 31 2006

[rasberry re-tart] No, he said Toyota.

There used to be an Eddie Bauer edition of the Ford Explorer. Crossbranding kinda goes in and out of fashion.
lowbot, Aug 31 2006

There was also a Trek VW, A Coach Mercury(i think). Masseratti rebadged a chrysler lebaron once to.
jhomrighaus, Aug 31 2006

Shucks! If I could get 2007 Kirkland by simply walking up to the register, paying cash and then getting a set of keys so that I can go out to the back parking lot and drive one away, I would love it!

"...hey honey.. you want anything from costco?" "..Yeah! Get me a couple of cars! Mindy wrecked one this morning!"
