Mount little finger- and hand-activated drum machine pads in various places around the steering wheel of your car.
ThumDrum [sic] and FingerDrum Kits
http://www.paia.com/midibrn.htm Start with this. Set it up to MIDI trigger a drumbox built into your car audio system. [waugsqueke, Apr 26 2002]

This is a great idea! (Of course, there would be demands for new "Road Rage" sound modules that would hook various explosions, machine gun sounds, bomb whistles, etc. to the drum pads.) |
The biggest problem would be with an experienced drummer..you need foot pedals:) I can see it now...brake, gas, gas, gas/brake, gas. Might be interesting if you could hook it into your stereo system. Could be practice for the konami game: drummania. |
This is a good idea. I see people tapping to the beat on their steering wheels all the time. It'd drive passengers nuts, though. |

Love this idea! Perhaps you could make it out of pressure sensing film kinda stuff and just velcro it where you want it. Use some bluetooth wireless stuff to get it to the drum "brain". I agree that tying it into your stereo somehow would be an excellent idea. (Anybody every think of adding a 1/8 headphone IN jack to your dash?) Have some kind of recording device with a smartmedia card so you can play it later on your computer. Of course safety people would probably be all over it (especially with foot pedals). I think you could do left foot pedal though... |
For your feet, you could have little pads inside your shoes that you can tap your toes onto. |
I want one NOW! I give you 8 croissants for this idea. (Disguised to look like one, for fairness.) |
I tap the wheel, slap it, whack it, wham it, thump it, and occasionally I stomp on my fake pedal left foot rest. |
Throw a keyboard up on the passenger's side dash, a fold down guitar and a microphone in the back and you've got yourself a four car pile up! |
You could build a keyboard in the top of the dashboard - on the rare occasions when I have driven a car, I end up with the heels of my palms on the top of the wheel and my fingers tapping the dash. If you drove in convoy you could have a band. Guitarist motorcyclists? |

Casio SK-1, Ukelele, Harmonica have all been played in my car while I was driving. Never an accordian or my beloved long-lost bongo drums. |
Awesome! You can add a microphone that you can sing along to the music with if you don't feel like drumming. |
I have a small 12-volt mixer wired into the stereo in my truck, at times we have had three-person drive-n-jams, with anything from a 606, 303, microphone beatboxing, Yamaha Dx100, etc etc etc |
now mounting some pads on the steering wheel, there's an idea... |
Well done [bunsen] for churning this one back up again, I missed it first time around. |
Yeah, the TB303 would be pretty neat in a car. Especially considering it's about the size of a paperback novel and battery-operated. Looks like a toy! |

One of these days I'm going to find one in the freebie box at a garage sale... *crosses fingers* |

this is why auto insurance rates have skyrocketted in the last decade. |

I was going to post something like this just this
morning. Already halfbaked. |
