Spring Wear

coiled clothing

Farmer Fashion is once again breaking new ground in the rag trade by the unveiling of hidden helix garments. Instead of hanging from straps, belts or elastic, the clothing is held up from below, by a spiral sewn into the cloth.

Use of a thin, lightweight spring of steel or plastic, means for example that a diaphanous fabric can be used for boot tops, and the collection’s taut clothes don’t show wrinkles. To fold, just compress the coil and fasten two clips.

In addition to the strapless top and boots shown below, belt-less pants and ballroom gloves were paraded on the runway. In the works are socks that won’t glide down and boxer shorts that won’t ride up.

A very slinky look, with many novel possibilities. For instance, the top of a blouse could be made to oscillate up and down. <Did I just see a...?..>
