Spam Action Lawsuit

Collaborate with other spam victims to make money

This combines two concepts:

1) Yahoo mail already has a REPORT SPAMMER button to notify admin.

2) People currently sue spammers in court & win $10 per spam, typically (for 2nd offense spammers who recieve notice, per link below).

See where I'm going? No? Imagine Yahoo taking the thousands of spam sightings to investigate and bring charges against the worst spammers first, to get the most money.

Yahoo takes a cut of the winnings, but also sends each spam victim a cut to encourage use of the system.

Can you present some evidence of this?

Exactly why you collaborate to get a ruthless lawyer to hound them for you.

The cost of filing one of these $10 lawsuits in Small Claims Court is between $20 and $120, depending on how much of a schmuck you are.

What needs to happen is for some lawyers to form a class-action lawsuit. This should be pretty juicy for lawyers, since the total damages would be quite large. If one figures that a spam will cost the recipient one second of time valued at $6.00/hour (in reality it will waste more and the recipient's time is likely to be more valuable), every million spams represents a theft of $1,666. Since many of these spammers send out hundreds of millions or billions of spams, the amounts of money that could be demanded in a class-action lawsuit would be quite large. BTW, under that measure 32,000,000 spams represents a man-year of wated time deleting them; every 1.5 billion represents a wasted waking lifetime.

Not only the time wasted of end-users, but also the resources wasted of ISPs should be taken into account to calculate the damage.
