Park an immense, very dense 2001-type monolith at a stable Lagrange point or make a colossal, smooth landing strip on the side of an asteroid there. Place a space skater at one end with magnetic slightly repelling soles.
First quite slowly, but then with increasing speed, the star slider will effortlessly
glide towards the other end of the strip. After whipping by the center point, the cosmic rider will slowly decelerate to stop just before the other end, and then immeasurably start slithering back towards the starting point. Continue to pendulate until bored or awake.
Add excitement with several astro-surfers starting at slightly different points at opposite ends. Space shuttling could also be done along the axis of a huge, dense doughnut.

I'm not sure that works. Isn't a langrange point the neutral gravity point between two bodies? Objects aren't attracted to it, they're attracted to the bodies that generate the garvitational fields that create it.
[edit] ah, you want the gravity of the monolith to be the accelerant] [/edit] |

You're not really a farmer at all are you? |

<invites contempt>who's Dave?</invites contempt> |

"I'm sorry, Dave, I'm afraid I can't do that" |

But what about Naked Ned? |
Why me? I'm scared...
One more reason for the quote, "What are you doing, Dave?" |
Ummm dude how is this different from a gravity well?? |
I am gonna put the gravity well back... |
I am gonna delete this... |

Don't you dare. This has great implications for spiral bowling. |

(Norm, yeah, we've seen it.) |
Is that why I keep getting gutter balls? |
Yeah, and then we drill a large hole through the earth, coat the hole with stuff that keeps it hollow and then jump in. You would get the same yo-yo effect but here on earth. (no ice skates needed) |
