Having spent virtually all day yesterday lying on my back being towed around a flooded gravel pit by qualifying rescue divers in unseasonably blazing sunshine, I now resemble a freshly boiled lobster.
Sunscreen was a no-no because the correct administration of pure oxygen is part of the course (some oils and waxes can spontaneously combust in the presence of O2), so I propose a small parasol attachment to be erected from the top of a snorkel, tall enough to clear the rescuer's head (so that he can administer rescue breathing), but small enough to be stowed by the wearer's head when not in use.
The construction would probably be the reverse of the standard solar gamp, so that it streamlines itself upwards when diving.

Maybe not a big market for this product. How many "Underwater rescue training live dummy" employees can there be in the world?
I think you could just jerryrig one for personal use....Or get a different job, I've heard there's lots of jobs in computers these days...

I once got real bad sunburn on the back of my neck between my hairline and the neck seal of my exposure suit, just snorkelling in the Med, so I'd go for one of these. Or maybe a Legionnaire's kepi-style flap between mask strap and suit. [+]

More profitably, I'd suggest marketing a line of non-combustible suntan lotion specifically designed for using when scuba diving. I'd've thought that oil-free suntan lotion was pretty readily available, and easily tested.

I've had this same problem more times than I can remember. I always thought I had to put up with spontaneously combusting oil. "For this relief, much 'tanks' ".+
