Half a croissant, on a plate, with a sign in front of it saying '50c'

Expensive, difficult, slightly dangerous, not particularly effective... I'm on a roll.

Pictionary is fun.
Sniglets are fun.
Pictionary using only sniglets would be fun.
The answers are always sniglets. A dictionary of sniglets could accompany the game in case some players are not up on their snigletage. Perhaps alcohol and chinese food could(should) also be incorporated.

But 'alcohol' and 'chinese' and 'food' are real words...

So you want people to guess made-up words? Methinks frustration would ensue.

So, you have to draw pictures of imaginary words? Pass the alcohol, it's gonna be a long night...
k_sra, Aug 19 2003

...very long for those of us with a non-alcoholic bent. I think the entertainment value of drunks trying to convey imaginary words with pictures would be short lived.

I kinda like the idea until I apply practicality. I vote "neutral". Might be great for true sniglets fans.

I love playing with words, but I think the factory had run out of sniglet-appreciation genes when I was assembled. Even the word "sniglet" seems insufficient to me somehow.

A dictionary of sniglets is an oxymoron.
DrCurry, Aug 19 2003

Weren't Sniglets an 80's phenomenon? Does anybody remember a single sniglet 15-20 years later?

Let's not do this half way. Let's invent a game that combines tiddly winks and whist...
dbsousa, Aug 19 2003

Oooh, I like it. To appease the impracticality crowd, how about have a list of say 50 sniglets on display and they drawers are secretly assigned one of them to draw.

Actually, I do remember one sniglet which made it into the common vernacular:

Spork (n):The utensil commonly used by fast food restaurants intended to combine the spoon and fork into a single implement, while performing neither function well.
Freefall, Aug 19 2003

Spork is actually a trademarked name, made be the Sweetheart company.

I remember quite a few sniglets. Some have even made it into my general vocabulary.

I remember reading "Aquacoustics - (n.) Special sound waves in the bathtub that enable anyone to sing on key* "

Then I spent an hour looking for the footnote for that asterisk and couldn't find it.

Then, two words later I got to "Asterexasper - (n.) An asterisk with no corresponding footnote".

       I laughed myself silly!

I came up with one way back then but never shared it with Mr. Hall because I could just picture the horrible spray of goober flying out of his mouth as he tried to pronounce it.

Toasperation. It's the sweat that toast makes on any hard surface while you've set it down to butter it.
