With all this new tech. where you don't even need a key to get into your hotel room, why do we still need to push the button in the elevator cars? I want to be able to get on an elevator at a hotel and swipe my card in a reader and the elevator automatically goes to my floor. Existing tech. can be used for card readers and I've already seen readers in elevators for locking purposes. Let’s just take this tech. and change it a bit to read the key card and see what room you are suppose to be in. If you want to visit a friend on a different level a keypad will be accessable.

These exist. I have (and do) use them and have for several years. Floor access and everything.
