One of my favorite things to do with slinkies is to hold an end in each hand and just move my hands up and down alternately, watching and listening as the slinky bulk moves from left to right, right to left, repeat.

I would love to have a machine that did this automatically so I could enjoy the pleasures of this motion as I sat at my desk, couch, etc.

       1. Buy a LavaLava Wave machine. (link) 2. Unwrap and plug it in. Set it on a horizontal surface. 3. Activate your slinky and put one end on the right and the other on the left. 4.Automatic Slinky LavaLava Wave oscillates.

I've got a lavalamp screensaver. I recall @ 28 years ago... The engagement gifts were being opened by my (now disowned) cousin and his bride - Oh, how we laughed when he opened - literally - opened the lava lamp and it's contents spilled on his lap.

Build a miniature "up" eacalator, and put the slinky on that.
