I was at a fish restaraunt the other day with one of those big display tanks, and I thought it might be interesting conversational decor to have a few inner walls of your house as hollow plexiglass displays of naturally occuring phenomena; thus, the 'Ant Farm Wall,' the 'Dung Beetle Wall,' the 'Geological
Formation Wall,' the 'Human Anatomical Slice Wall,' etc. Some of the displays could be inside the doors, in the ceiling, etc. It would be really nifty to build a large fish tank overhead of the bathroom fixtures, so if you looked up you'd see fish. Not sure what to do about the seemingly necessary rocks, though. This latter idea may be recycled from an earlier post; seems like I've seen it before.

Creepy. It would begin to feel like one was constantly under the observation of a swarm of dung beetles trapped inside a "human wall" in their beetl-y abode. |

I had a simliar idea and I was searching when I found your post. I would have all the walls in the house hollow and filled with fish. Each wall is naturally connected to adjacent walls so the fish could follow you as you walk around the house. For privacy you'd want the exterior walls to be painted. Sucker fish to clean the algae. And once you've got hollow walls you could fill them with anything you want - even compost which would decompose, heat the house and allow you to keep tropical fish. A whole compost wall with pipes passing through that join the water walls so the water is heated. There may be some practical issues to overcome such as strength!! |

I have a twist to your idea. I've always loved keeping fish in aquariums and I've always wanted to have a goldfish pond. So, I came up with an idea to have both: Build a pond that comes right up to the side of your house and put a huge thick glass window in your basement to view the fish from inside. I don't know how well it would work, but it would be cool if it did. |

I like all three ideas [Ray, onge and jsmitty]!
If my wife agrees, we'll do some of them in our house and I'll post a link. |

redundant <link>; I want one with a tall wall so I can breed coelacanths. |
