Single Dishwasher

Environmentally friendly dishwasher for a single table set

Dishwashers use less water and detergent than humans when doing the dishes. That's good for the environment. On the other hand, for a single (like me) it can take days to fill the dishwasher so things get hard/sticky/stinky before its worth turning on the dishwasher. I'd like a single set dishwasher. Two plates, one knive, etc.

Instead of hot water an ultrasonic blaster could do most of the cleaning in that fairly small volume to save energy. I tried that in a commercial grade ultrasonic bath. The plate was in pieces, but those were really clean. Also everything was still sitting in the same dirty water. A dishwasher would need automatic drain and rinse functions.

Baked, own one myself 'cause the apartment doesn't have room for a full sized one. It's small, it fits on the counter and it hooks up to the sink when its in use.

Use of that device seems a little lazy I have to say!

That carocelle thing is huge! 20" by 20" and over a foot high. That's my entire counter space, gone. They advertise it as being good for dorm rooms?! Sorry, that size is unacceptable.
I want one that's big enough for one dinner plate. Like a disk drive. Or for a couple of glasses or a bunch of forks and knives.

I envision something looking like a toaster, just a little taller and longer to hold a vertical plate. 5"x 15" footprint?

Perhaps it can actually double as a toaster. The crumbs at the bottom are washed away when the dishes are cleaned.

Sound as a great idea. Btw, kbecker what particular ultrasonic bath did you use for your "experiment"?

How about something which could mount under a cabinet (like Black & Decker's "Spacemaker" products), or on a wall?

Now if they can just make one of these for a single outfit. Sometimes all of my clothes are dirty and I just need one shirt and a pair of pants.

What, you don't have a dog? They lick dishes real clean!
