Unless approved by an ethics committee, you cannot simulate a
universe with sentient individuals in it without informing them of
the simulated nature of the reality.
e.g. standard notification during start of simulation via verbal,
visual, written, or thought transfer. Alternatively you could
just
send a book down.
Maybe it's not been found yet...

If the sentient beings in the simulation reproduce,
do I just need to tell the first generation, or must
I also inform each individual? What level of proof
must be provided to each individual who does not
want to accept the truth? |
|
|
To what extent do I have to explain the concept
of a simulation if the beings do not have any kind
of technology that could enable them to
understand the concept? Would it be sufficient to
give them a brief synopsis of their creation so
they don't waste too much time trying to figure
out how they came into being? |
|
|
Perhaps full disclosure could be delayed until the
sentient beings are capable of creating a simulated
universe with sentient beings? Or better yet,
inform them as soon as the concept of simulation
is sufficiently developed to the point where they
start having discussions on rules for the treatment
of sentient simulated beings... ... |
|
|
What if the sentient beings forget? Lots of sentient beings are forgetful. I suppose you could tape reminder notes to them. But since it is a simulation, you could make the notes stick without having to use tape. |
|
|
Thing is, these rules will only apply in this reality, and perhaps in any we create. |

Simulated death - you get your own primetime series on BBC3, and are never heard of again. |

Is it called Nag because it tells us over and over? |

You want to tell people the truth? Are you mad? People will stop caring. Entire cities will commit suicide. Who will be left to play Lotto? |
